GETTING CREATIVE IN THE WOODS
Mostly a self-taught painter, I work in oils, using a palette knife. Focusing mainly on rural landscapes of Ontario and also my home country of Scotland, I can also be inspired by vintage vehicles, motorcycles and animals.
I am continuously inspired to recreate the fleeting light & shadows of ever-changing, rural landscapes using an expressive, yet realistic style incorporating both dry & impasto applications and using alla prima & sgraffito techniques all applied with a palette knife.
As a multi-media artist, I also develop print designs from my sketches and like to design unique decorative items from leather and antlers.

IN THE WINTER, DEER, ELK AND MOOSE SHED THEIR ANTLERS TO GROW BIGGER ONES THE NEXT YEAR. A RARE & PRIZED FIND ON MY FREQUENT FOREST WALKS, I HAVE BEEN CARVING THESE ANTLERS TO CREATE ONE-OF-A-KIND, WEARABLE ART OFTEN WITH CELTIC OR PICTISH INSPIRATION REFLECTING MY SCOTTISH CULTURE.
